u12 Hurling Fixtures for 2012
U12 Football Match Report 02/04/2012:
The u12 footballers played their first game at home to Newtown last Monday week. It was pleasing and encouraging to see Kilcoole with such a big panel of 18 players available. The game was very entertaining and played in a very sporting manner. It is great to see the future stars of the club perform at this level. All these juveniles want is to play games, but full credit to coaches Francis and Yvonne for having the team organised and displaying all the skills of Gaelic football at such a young age group. It makes a change to see Gaelic football played in this free flowing, exciting manner. There was hardly a break in play for the majority of the game. This is the way football should be played and both teams should be applauded for this. Our entire panel, with everyone getting game time was Cian Morrissey, Paul McKenna, Joshua Hatton, Charlie Delaney Byrne 0-1, Kalon Murdiff, Mikeal Counihan 0-1, Alan O Callaghan, Luke O Callaghan 0-1, Alec Greene, Evan Vines, Megan Merriman, Oisin Curry 0-1, Glenn Dunne, Brian Short, Erica Bellamy, Caitlin O Toole , Ross Stephenson and top scorer on the night Katie Murray with0-3. Well done to all the girls and boys involved.

U8 Hurling:

Thank you to all concerned for your continued support and dedication. Best of luck to everyone on finals night. Hurling training will be moving outdoors to the GAA field on Wednesday 4th April. It will continue on every Wednesday from 6.00pm to 6.50pm for the younger members and from 7.00pm to 8.00pm for our more experienced players. U12 Football:
Training is on Wednesdays in the GAA field from 5 to 6:15.
U12 Hurling:
Our u12s played a challenge game with Eire Og in Greystones last Saturday. For the first game of the season it was a very hard fought game for both teams. Kilcoole and Eire Og have had some great battles in the last year and this time we were the ones to come out on top. Thanks to the players for putting in a great display. Thanks to the parents who travelled in to support the lads and thanks to Colm Dorgan and Eire Og for arranging the match and some treats for the players afterwards. No outdoor training this weekend Saturday 31st March.
Intermediate Hurling:
Our hurlers played their first match in the Leinster league last Monday week. We travelled to play Lucan Sarsfields. We were missing several players who were on holidays. It was an evenly contested game. We were trailing by 5 points at half time (1-08 to 6 points). The second half proved to be very entertaining with plenty of scores from both teams. The game went right to the wire. Ronan Keddy scored a marvellous point to level the game at 2-13 apiece. Next Michael O Brien was fouled and we were awarded a peno. Time was up at this stage and Fintan Donnelly made the sensible decision of pointing and see the game out. However time was added on and Lucan hit us with a sucker punch late goal. Despite this our lads battled on and got another score. We now trailed by 1 point and despite a very gallant effort, time was up and we were denied at least a draw. It was a very spirited performance from our lads and we were disappointed not to hold on for victory. The final score was Lucan 3-13 Kilcoole 2-15. Our scorers were Gerry Murray 0-7, Fintan donnelly 1-02, Eoin Keddy 1-0, Ronan Keddy 0-3, Jim Keddy 0-2 and Ciaran Doyle 0-1. Hard luck lads

Our under 8 hurlers returned to action last Wednesday with the recommencement of the indoor leagues. We would like to thank Eddie Byrne Motors for his sponsorship of the league. They are proving very popular with our players. We have a weekly turnout of 45 young hurlers, giving their all, learning the skills of the game and having great fun. Continued thanks to our committed players and dedicated parents. The leagues finish on the 28th of March and we will be returning to outdoor training in the GAA field after Easter. We have lined up 2 Wicklow senior county players and a senior county selector to take some training sessions over the summer. On behalf of our players, parents and trainers we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for showing this level of commitment to our youngest players/future stars. We will again be attending the Go Games series of blitzes from April to September. This was very successful last year in terms of enjoyment, team building, skills development as well as scorelines, so we hope for continued success for the program and our participation in it. We will be hosting 3 of the blitzes over the summer so please look out for the dates and come to support our teams. New hurlers are always welcome- please contact Karl on 087 2488922.
Under 8 Football:
Our under 8 Gaelic football continues indoors in Coláiste Craobh Abhann on Thursday nights from 6.30pm to 7.25pm. Each session is well attended with approximately 40 enthusiastic players from aged 5. All boys and girls from junior infants welcome to attend and new footballers are always welcome. Please contact John Byrne at 087-2188113 if you need any more information. Like the hurlers we'll be participating in the Go Games series of blitzes. First Gaelic football blitz is scheduled for April 13th. More details to follow on this and we will continuing with the games right through until September. This is our youngsters' first exposure to team matches with other clubs and the matches are always very well attended and supported by the kids and parents alike. We had a very successful series of games and blitzes last year and we are looking forward to more of the same in 2012. In a few weeks we will be moving our training sessions outside and we'll announce the exact timing at a later date.

East Coast Fm/Avondale Sports Awards:
Congratulations to both Fionnuala Britton and Jimmy Hatton on their recent awards at the East Coast FM/ Avondale Sports Awards. Fionnuala was rewarded for her magnificent Gold Medal success by being awarded "Sports star of the Year". It was well deserved Fionnuala, congratulations and the club wish you the very best of luck and success in your future races. Jimmy also was rewarded for his lifelong association with the GAA, particularly with our own club. Jimmy is currently Vice-President of our club and his "Lifetime Achievement Award" was fully deserved. Jimmy was a member of our successful 1954 Senior Football Championship winning team. When Jimmy hung up his football boots, he became a distinguished referee in both hurling and football. Jimmy was considered such a good referee that the GAA rewarded him the honour of refereeing both hurling and football All Ireland Finals in the one year. Once again congratulations to Fionnuala and Jimmy, you are two people that Kilcoole is very proud off.
Intermediate Football:
Last Thursday night our intermediate footballers played out their first league game of 2012. Our opponents were An Tochar and the venue was Roundwood. Our panel was depleted a bit as we were missing several influential players. We got off to the worst possible start when we conceded an early goal. This setback however, did not dishearten our lads. We showed a lot of character and pride to get ourselves back into the game. Considering the time of year, the game was played at a relentless pace. Both teams went hell for leather with a lot of hard hitting and high intensity. Both teams should be applauded for an entertaining and sporting game. At times we played like our lives depended on it. Despite the early setback, we dug in deep and were rewarded with a goal of our own, Dara Keddy being the scorer. The teams went in level at half time and left all the spectators eagerly awaiting the final thirty minutes. The second half lived up to expectation with a free flowing, end to end and enthralling finish to the game. For long periods of the second half, it was point for point, with neither team pulling clear. Our defense was superbly marshaled by Wayne Moran. The midfield pairing of Peter "Laddy" O Brien and Kris Farrell worked tirelessly all night. Eoin Keddy was instrumental in all our attacking play, supplying the ammunition for our scoring forwards, in particular Matt Gilbert who notched up 5 points and Dara Keddy who got a tally of 1-02. Kris Farrell (0-1), Darren Byrne (0-1) and Vinny Quigley (0-1) were our other scorers in what was a wonderful team performance. All good games must come to an end and I don't think anyone was too disappointed when the game finished a draw on a score line of An Tochar 2-07 to Kilcoole's 1-10. Well done lads and keep up the hard work.

Our first game for the adult hurlers is away in Lucan on (Bank Holiday) Monday March 19. Best of luck.

Intermediate Football:
Our intermediate footballers played a friendly game last Wednesday against Ballinteer, St. John's. On the night we were missing several key members of the panel and therefore we only had a squad of 16. We were forced to play an experimental side. We started well and went a point up with Kris Farrell our scorer. As the game progressed, Ballinteer found their way and went in 3 points up at half time (6-3). We made positional changes in the second half but Ballinteer pushed on and got a goal, which effectively ended the game as a contest. Ballinteer added some late points to their score and the game ended up 1-10 to 5 points in favour of Ballinteer. The game was played in a sporting manner and was probably a closer game than the score line suggests. From a negative point of view, it was disappointing to score only 5 points and having 12 wides. However there were a lot of positives to take from the game. It was our first match under new management and we coped adequately despite missing so many key players. Well done to Conor Short, Conor was playing his first intermediate game and handled the occasion brilliantly. our scorers on the night were Matt Gilbert 0-3, Kris Farrell 0-1 and Liam Vines 0-1. Hard luck lads The real business starts for the intermediate footballer's tomorrow night (March 8), when we travel to Roundwood to play An Tochar in our first league game of the campaign. Throw in is at 8pm. Thanks to Kris Farrell, Ross Keddy and Paul Hunt for the work they did in the clubhouse. It is a lovely job lads. The deadline for permission forms for juveniles to register has now passed. Best of luck to our players playing with other clubs.

Minor players Eoin Keddy and Stephen "Eggy" Kelly will play minor football with Eire Og while Conor Short will play for An Tochar. Eoin Keddy played in the drawn minor game against Avondale and scored 2 points. Best of luck lads.

CLUB NOTES 13/02/2012
Minor Football:
Following several meetings and hours of discussions, we (the management team) regret to inform players, that the club will not be entering a Minor football in this years (2012) championship. We discussed the subject at length and our decision was based on the fact that our panel was so small, mainly consisting of u16 players. Taking holidays and work committments of the players in the summer into consideration along with the overall committment of the players, we decided it would not be practical to enter a team. We regret any inconvience to players, but felt it was the best decision to make and hope all players and parents respect our decision. The county board have being notified of our decision. Any player wishing to play for another club for this coming year are free to do so on a permission form basis. These permission forms are currently being distributed to players. REMEMBER PERMISSION FORMS MUST BE SIGNED BY PLAYERS AND CLUB SECRETARY (Colm Hatton) and RETURNED TO COUNTY BOARD BEFORE FEBRUARY 28 2012. We would encourage any elligible minor players(not u16 players) to actively train and play with our junior and intermediate teams. We wish all the players the best of luck this year with their sporting activities and their school exams.
Indoor Hurling & Football:
Due to the mid term we are on a break. Next sessions will be on Feb 22nd and 23rd
CLUB NOTES 12/12/2011
Pat Frawley Indoor Hurling Finals:
We had a great turnout last Thursday night for the final two games of the Pat Frawley Tournament. Firstly I want to thank our local Centra for sponsoring the medals, our local post office for the man of the match awards and Pappy Frawley for the winner's trophies. Your support is really appreciated. The two matches turned out to be two hugely contest games, with no quarter given until the final whistle. It was clear that after 6 weeks of hard battles the prizes would not be won easily. At the end of the night, Dublin where crowned 2011 Pat Frawley champions while Kilkenny won the Christy Doyle plate for 2011. We would like to thank all the players, in particular the Eire Og players who took part this year, we hope you all enjoyed it and come back again in 2012. Thanks to the coaches who have been fantastic this year and to Barry, who took over the referee duties this year and did a great job. Thanks to all the parents who turned up on the night and we hope to see you all again when we return after Christmas.

CLUB NOTES 26/09/2011
u12 hurling:
We had a massive turnout of 26 players for our county final against Eire Og last Saturday morning in Arklow; it is great to see so many eager to play for Kilcoole at this level. We started well and put up a great fight in the first half, to go in at half time a point down. Shortly after the restart Eire Og hit a purple patch and put away their goal chances to run out winners on the day, Eire Og are deserving champions this time around, but we aren't far away and look forward to the next local derby! Thanks to all the parents and supporters who travelled down on the day. This was the last competitive game for us outdoors for now, however we will shortly switch to our indoor training and the highlight of the year, the Pat Frawley indoor tournament. This tournament generated quite a buzz last year, and it's bound to be just as good this year. The indoor sessions are a perfect time for new members who would like to join in; you will be more than welcome. In the meantime we will continue training sessions on Saturdays from 3pm to 4:15pm. Training on Thursday nights will resume next year.
Minor football:
Wednesday 28 September our minor footballers play Michael Dwyer's in Annacurra at 8pm in the B Shield Semi Final. All support welcome

We have set up a direct debit for the lotto for those who wish to avail of it. Forms have been distributed, please return your form and selected numbers to a committee member asap. This is of great benefit to the club.

CLUB NOTES 18/07/2011
Minor Football:
The minor footballers started their championship campaign last Wednesday against Avondale over in the field. We were missing a few players and hence some u16s were drafted in. Avondale started brightly but out of the blue Darren Gammell found some space and continued on to finish to the back of the net for our first score.of the game. However Avondale edged further ahead again but our lads continued to come back time and time again. It became a very sporting, entertaining game with a nice crowd to appreciate the quality of both teams. The game had a lot of quality throughout with Danny Kavanagh giving an exhibition of fine midfield play, excellent high fielding while chipping in with a very impressive 5 points. Stephen McGuinness looks to be the find of the season with another excellent performance between the posts, denying Avondale on several occasions. One save was straight out of the Jennings or Schmichael class. Our other two goals were also nicely taken, one a delicate chip from Eoin Keddy and the other a deft flick from sub Dean Taylor.Unfourtunately this fine team dispaly from Kilcoole was not enough for us to win the game, eventually losing by 4 points with a scoreline of Avondale 1-20 to Kilcoole's 3-10, impressive shooting from both teams. There was a lot of postives to take from this wonderful performance of our's, we had seven different scorers in Danny Kavanagh 0-5, Eoin Keddy 1-1, Darren Gammell 1-0, Dean Taylor 1-0, Shane Molloy 0-2, Arron Lennon0-1 and Lee Dutton 0-1. We had several 16s playing minor for the first time and they adapted well.Although defeated, our players should be proud of their efforts in a good all round team performance. Hard luck lads
u16 Football:
The u16 footballers had a good win over Laragh in the championship last Monday week over in the field. We were missing a few players due to holidays and injuries. It turned out to be a 11 a side game which means a lot of running and free space for both teams. We chose to play down the hill first half to try and establish a lead before half time. Due to the space available, we played some lovely football at times and executed some nice scores. It was good to see that we had learned something from our defeat to Kilmac. Although we had built up a sizeable lead, Laragh continued to push us all the way. It was nice to see all four starting fowards get scores with Dean Taylor being our most productive scorer with 2-02, the other fowards Glen Mitchell 1-02, Shane Evans 1-0 and Conor O Neill (Captain) 0-2. Ryan Kenny got our opening goal and his midfield partner Lee Dutton chipped in with 3 points, one in particular beautifully executed with the outside of the left foot. Our defending was solid, although we did manage to concede three goals, which was a bit worrying. However all in all it was a good team performance and deserved win. Well done lads. Keep up the hard work.
u14 Football:
Our u14s footballers travelled to Avondale last Wednesday for our second championship game. We dominated much of the first half but couldn't seem to get the scores to match the play. We were a point down at half time but after two early second half goals we seemed to find our confidence again. Holding on to the lead we fought hard all the way to the final whistle. Definitely think we need some shooting practice but all in all great to get some points on the board. Full time score 6-9 to 3-9. Team and scorers were Jamie Murray, Kevin Smith, Conor Toole, Kyle O'Reilly 0-1, Ryan Heffernan, Warren Merriman, Caolan Doyle, Cormac Byrne 1-3, Bradley Delaney Byrne 2-3, Shane Mc Mullan 2-1, Dylan O'Brien, Luke Evans, Jordan Murray 1-0, Adam Carstairs 0-1, Emmet Buckley, Subs Clancy Smith, Stephen Taylor both used. Well done lads!
u12 Hurling:
Last Saturday we attended the Don Hyland school of hurling in Bray, where the guest star was George O'Connor from Wexford. George is a fantastic coach and all the kids had a great time. The school of hurling has been a great addition to the calendar and we hope that it continues, there will be one more session in Carnew at a date to be announced. Next up for the u12s is the re-scheduled match against Eire Og this Saturday morning in Greystones at 10, we would encourage all parents and club members to go and support the u12s.
CLUB NOTES 11/07/2011
Senior Hurling:
Well done to the senior hurlers who won a hard fought championship game against Glenealy last Thursday. It had looked like it wasn't to be our night when we were 5 points adrift with three minutes left, but two goals, one being the last play of the game, stole victory for the goosebank. Also, we brought along our u12 hurlers to this game, the future of our club. They where all delighted to get a chance to mix with the senior players after the game.
U14 Football:
Kilcoole u14 footballers played host to Baltinglass for a championship match last Wednesday week over in the field. Talk before the game among Kilcoole supporters, centered on how dominant Baltinglass had being in our previous league meeting. But championship football is a different ball game entirely and this was proven in this game. Baltinglass started brightly and knocked over a few unanswered scores before we settled. Actually some very good defending and fine saves by Jamie Murray kept us in the game early on. Gradually our midfield pairing of Cormac Byrne and Bradley Delaney Byrne came to terms with a very strong Baltinglass midfield. Now we had settled and our play improved, with Shane McMullen beginning to cause their defense serious problems. Towards the end of the first half we scored a goal and a few points, to leave us trailing by only a couple of points at half time. Although the first half was entertaining, I don't think anyone could imagine how breathtakingly entertaining the second half would turn out. We were at a slight disadvantage, playing up the hill. This didn't concern our players at all as they pushed their opponents all the way. The modern game is dominated by tactics, short kickouts, blanket defenses, half forwards as defenders, one man full forward lines and sweepers. But it is always good to see a game played in the traditional manner, of simply trying to outscore your opponents. This match was in the traditional manner, with the basic skills of high fielding, solid defending, half forwards running at pace causing havoc, hand and kick passing demonstrated to perfection shown by both sides in this classic, epic match. It was also good to see the old styled(Bomber Liston style) of fist goals, with Luke Evans scoring both goals in such manner. Adam Carstairs came off the bench and scored 1-01. In fact the game was a model for how Gaelic football should be played as it had a bit of everything as well as being played in a sporting manner. They say goals win matches; this is true, as well as bringing huge entertainment and excitement. This game provided no less than 12 goals, it was end to end, particularly in the second half, blink and you miss it. As the game drew to a conclusion, Kilcoole were trailing by 3 points when we were awarded a free. Baltinglass packed the goalline, but Cormac Byrne had to go for it and his free went narrowly, agonizing a few inches past the post.Baltinglass surged forward and got their insurance point and the game finished with a scoreline of Kilcoole 7-4(25) Baltinglass 5-14(29).It was a game neither side deserved to lose and both teams and management must be congratulated on providing such entertainment. Hard Luck Kilcoole, heads up and be proud of yourselves on what was a wonderfull performance. Kilcoole team and scorers were: Jamie Murray,Kyle O Reilly, Conor Toole, Jack Bellamy, Caolol Doyle, Warren Merriman, Ryan Heffernan, Bradley Delaney Byrne, Cormac Byrne 2-3, Shane McMullen 2-0, Dylan O Brien, Luke Evans 2-0,Conor Rubalcava,Jordan Murray,Aaron Mckenna. Subs Adam Carstairs 1-01, Clancy Smith, Emmet Buckley, James Toner and Jordan Greene.
U12 Hurling:
Our u12 Hurlers produced a great display of skill and determination last Monday week in the field against Fergal Og's. This team has been putting in a huge amount of work at training each week and it is starting to pay off, with 3 wins in a row. Well done to all the players who took part last Monday, in particular, man of the match, Adam Cummins. Well done lads. Next up is a big match against Eire Og in Greystones. Being a local derby, you can be sure it will be a great battle. This Saturday we will head to the Don Hyland School of Hurling. Details to be confirmed.
Cul Camp
The summer camp for football, hurling and camogie will take place in Kilcoole from 25/7/2011 - 29/7/2011, cost is 55 Euro. Applications can be downloaded from www.gaa.ie or contact Gerry (086-8854198).
Paddy Murphy
The club and village were united in mourning at the sad recent passing of the late Paddy Murphy RIP. Although originally a Newcastle man, Paddy lived in and the served the Kilcoole community for most of his life. A tireless worker right until the end. Paddy played for and served the club throughout his life with distinction. The wider GAA community will fondly remember Paddy from his time spent stewarding at Croke Park. At the funeral Jimmy Hatton recalled affectionately and fondly memories of Paddy's life. I think everyone has fond memories of chatting with Paddy, be it up the mass path while walking his dog or while he was attending his garden in the main street. The club sympathizes with his daughters, sisters, grand children and great grandchildren. The village has sadly lost a true character and gentleman. Paddy Murphy RIP

U12 Hurling:
Our u12 hurlers faced a tough challenge from the hurlers of Barndarrig in the gaa field on Monday 6th. We were unlucky not to be a few goals to the good after a few minutes
, but the Barndarrig keeper made some fine saves and in the end we went in at the break behind 1-1 to 2-2. The second half was a different story, Kilcoole upped their game, applied pressure and hard work all over the field.
We managed to get back on level terms before pusing on with 2 further goals to run out 4-2 to 2-2 winners. We had some great indivual performaces in the defence and midfield with players getting stuck in.
The man of the man was Daniel Grehan, doing a mountain of work in the key midfield position, whenever the ball game in Daniel was doing all he could to make it his. For Kilcoole it really was a textbook case of never giving up and making it a game of two halves.
We'd like to thank the referee, Barndarrig for a fine game of hurling and the supporters who came over to watch the game, you make a big difference for the lads on the pitch.

Colaiste chraobh abhann
Congratulations to the Colaiste Craomh Ambhann Senior Football team who reached the county final after an impressive victory over Dunlavin. The team came from 9 points down at half to emerge victorious with a 4 point margin. It was definitely a game of two halves with a gale force wind a major influence on the game's outcome. Kilcoole GAA club was represented by our Minor players: Matt Mannix, Arron Lennon, Shane Doyle, Danny Kavanagh (0-7) and Darren Gammell. Congratulations again to Terry and the lads and best of luck in the final.

Tom Ryan Indoor tournament: :
Last Saturday, our u10 and u12 hurling teams travelled to Arklow for the finals of the Tom Ryan tournament. Both teams contested the shield finals, with the u10's very unlucky not to win. However the u12s were rewarded by a great display, taking home the shield. It's great to be taking home silverware, and we should be proud of both teams. The club will organise a special event for the players, details to be confirmed shortly. We'd like to thank all the players and supporters for your commitment since November in taking part in this tournament. We can look forward now to the upcoming season.
U13 County Development Squad:

JUVENILE CLUB NOTES 06/02/2011
Juvenile AGM:
The juvenile AGM took place on Friday 4th February. Unfortunately most parents and club members missed their chance to have an input or listen to issues affecting the club at this time. It was highlighted in this meeting that at some levels within the club there is a desperate need to recruit help. If you feel you can help out at any age level, particularly at u10 football, please contact us asap. Club registration forms will be available shortly, and fees should be submitted by mid March. Any players not paid up by then will not be allowed to take the field under new rules from GAA hq.
Juvenile Hurling:
The Pat Frawley cup and Christy Doyle Shield are up for grabs this Thursday. This very exciting competition not only involves 30 or so of our talented hurlers, but honours two great figures of Kilcoole GAA , Pat Frawley and Christy Doyle. All club members and parents are encouraged to come down to CCA this Thursday for the finals. The players themselves have been fighting it out for this tournament since November last, and it will result in a very exciting finale this Thursday.
First up in the Christy Doyle shield will be Wicklow v Galway, followed by Tipperary v Cork. There will also be a best player award for both finals, sponsored by John Toner
Final positions for Pat Frawley indoor league:
| Team | Played | Points |

| Tipp | 16 | 27 |

Tom Ryan Indoor tournament:
Our u10 hurlers travelled to Arklow last Saturday, and played very well considering a number of regular players were missing. Thanks to all who travelled down in support on the day. Next Saturday 12th the u12 hurlers will go to Arklow, drivers will be needed to bring the team down.
Minor Football:
Following last Friday's Juvenile AGM, the minor management are anxious for a brief meeting with players to discuss Minor Winter League, membership, suitable night for training. The Winter league commences on Sunday 27th February and will cosist of four matches. Details of opposing teams and venues to be finalised and players will then be notified. Hard luck to the Wicklow Vocational Schools who narrowly lost to Meath in the Leinster Final. Colaiste Craomh Amhainn(Kilcoole) provided no less than 6 players for the panel. In particular, we like to mention our own Minor player Darren Gammell, who not only represented the Vocational School team, but the Wicklow Minor panel as well in the same weekend. Playing for your county is a great honour and the club wish Darren every success with his county committements.
U16 Football:
Training continues Wednesday 9th February from 4.30pm - 5.30pm for Kilcoole U16 footballers. The Kilcoole U16 Footballers play their C Shield this Sunday 13th February at Annacurra at 12.30pm. Players to meet at church at 10.30am. Best of luck lads. Come on the Goosebank
Club AGM:
Thanks to all those who turned up for the club AGM last Friday, despite a very disappointing attendance the committee look forward to an exciting year for the club. It would seem that partaking in the running of the club is not high on the agenda for any but the 20 or so people whom turned up on the night. Certain members were excused from attending having informed in advance.
With the development of the new club house in full swing, it is very much an all hands on deck year for Kilcoole Gaa club. Our thanks go to the chairman and committee members on their great work throughout the year. A special mention goes to Eithne Walsh who has made everything happen in relation to the new club house development. Also a special mention for Noeleen Evans who does a mountain of work on the administration side of the club.
The only motion related to the establishment of a committee of intermediate and junior b management and players to try to resolve the issues not having enough players to field a team. This motion was carried and hopefully this issue can be resolved.

Tom Ryan Indoor tournament
Members of our u12 hurling team travelled to Arklow last Saturday morning for the opening day of the Tom Ryan tournament. The early start seemed not to be an issue as we played some really excellent hurling to win all three games.
The first game against Aughrim finished 8 goals to 3 for Kilcoole, with Ronan on the mark 5 times; Glenn grabbing two goals and Daniel scoring the last goal. Next up was Michael Dwyer's 'Reds', it was a tough game but it finished up 7 nil to Kilcoole, goal scorers were Cian D(2), Nathan(1) , Leo(1), Ross(1), Ronan(1),Glenn(1).
In the final game against Arklow Rocks, we started well but Arklow came back to level it at 4-4 before a decisive goal from midfield by Leo swung the game our way and the score line finished 6-4 to Kilcoole, scorers were Ronan(2), Daniel(2), Leo(1) and Nathan (1). It was a great team effort on the day and we will look to continue the same way the next day out. The team that travelled to Arklow were: Leo, Cian (D), Cian (M), Mikel, Brian, Daniel, Nathan, Glenn, Ross, Ronan and Glenn. Thanks to all who travelled down in support of the team. Also thanks to the organisers and the ref who all did a great job.

U14 Football Win B Shield Final!!!:
The Kilcoole u14 footballers had a marvellous win over Enniskerry in the B Shield Final. A wet Eire Og pitch in Greystones under the lights was the venue. We got off to a good start, having plenty of possession but unable to register scores. However CJ Corcoran got us off the mark with a goal. The game was even enough for long periods as a spirited Enniskerry side made sure we didn't have it all our own way. We lead at half time and felt that if we played to our potential in the second half, we had a great chance. We played some lovely football and we started to take more of our scores and in particular goals, which was the difference between the two teams. Just as we looked comfortable, Enniskerry scored a goal from a peno to make it a tense encounter. Kilcoole however showed character and we bounced back and registered a few more scores to see us over the finish line with a 4-10 to 1-09 scoreline. Full credit to Enniskerry, who gave us a good, clean game and kept going right until the end. Thanks to Eire Og club for the use of their pitch and facilities. Owen O Brien captained the team and Shane McMullen was awarded man of the match. Kilcoole team and scorers were: Josh Murray, James Toner, Owen O Brien, Shane Evans, Stephen O Toole, Bradley Delaney Byrne(1-0), Dylan Ford, Cormac Byrne, Lee Dutton (0-3), Jamie Murray (0-1), Warren Merriman (0-2), Shane McMullen (0-2), Luke Wheelan (1-0), CJ Corcoran (2-01), Jack Healy. Subs were Jordan Greene, Conor Martin, Emmett Buckley, Luke Evans (0-1). Congratultions lads. It is always great to bring a trophy back to the Goosebank.

JUVENILE CLUB NOTES 22/09/2010
U14 Football:
The u14 footballers travelled to play Aughrim/ Annacurra last Wednesday. The evening had a bit of everything, including arriving at wrong pitch. For entertainment and goals the match was a classic but for both management teams, it was nerve wrecking, nail biting, heart damaging right to the final whistle and even then I think everyone there had a different scoreline, until the ref confirmed the home team had won by a soliditary point. The term cricket score is often used but on this occasion both teams racked up unbelievable scoreline and a scoreboard would have being as welcome as water in a desert. The game was played 12 a side which may have accounted for such high scoring as there was acres of space available for both teams. I estimated 15 goals shared between the two teams. The half time switch of Jamie Murray replacing brother Josh in goals and Josh moving to full back almost proved a masterstroke as Jamie pulled off a fabulous save and Josh sweeping up everything at full back.Everything looked fine until the home side fired home a late goal to secure their victory. Stephen Taylor was launched from the bench and his first involment was by raising the green flag for Kilcoole and went on to add another point. Another sub Jordan Greene came close to winning the game for Kilcoole but unfortunately his shot went wide. Both teams should be applauded for this expedition of football and goalscoring in complete contrast to the modern defensive policies adapted by many an inter county team.Keeping record of the score could be compared to a tally man at an election count. Will have to bill the club for at least 3 pens.Kilcoole scorers were Shane MacMullen 3-01, CJ Corcoran 2-01, Gavin Dunne 1-0,Stephen Taylor 1-01, Cormac Byrne 0-3, Dylan Ford 0-1, Lee Dutton 0-1.To the best of my knowledge they were Kilcoole scorers, not doubt they will inform me if I am wrong. It was the type of game neither team deserved to lose. Hard luck lads
JUVENILE CLUB NOTES 19/09/2010
Minor:
The minor footballers travelled to Laragh last Saturday for their championship semi final against Blessington.Expectations were high for this group of players, especially as this was one of the strongest squads that we had at our dispoal all season. The teams were evenly balanced throughout most of the first half before Blessington grabbed a goal and went in at half time two points up.The second half continued in similar fashion where we were always chasing a 2/3 point game.As the game drew to a close we always felt we needed a goal. For a period, our lads bombarded balls in around the square.Darren Gammell's effort was dramatically turned wide and Joe Monaghan's delicate flick was just inches wide.As hard as we tried, the goal just wouldn't come and two peno claims were denied. At the other end Darren Byrne had a great game at full back.Despite the late flurry, it wasn't to be our day as Blessington broke away and scored a second and killer goal to eventually win by 5 points. The players and management are bitterly disappointed, we felt we didn't play to our capabilities and the fact that most of our scores came from frees and 45s wasn't encouraging. Our scorers were Danny Kavanagh 0-5,Shane Doyle 0-2, Matt Mannix 0-2 and Ciaran Byrne 0-1.It is little consolation, but our lads should be proud of their efforts throughout the season in which we finished second in the league and got to a championship semi final and the management wish to thank the players for their efforts. The management would also like to thank Patrick Doyle,Ronan Keddy, Noeleen Evans,Bernard Collier and to everyone who helped us doing the line or umpiring ,helping in any way and and supporting the team.
U8/U10/U12 hurling:
Skills test training will be at 6:30pm on Thursday at the national school, in preparation for the county skill tests on the first week of October

U16 Football:
The u16 footballers started their championship campaign against Carnew Emmets at home last Friday. It was a very disappointing outcome for our lads. After starting brightly our lads seem to fall apart. At times our defensive play was like Moses dividing the red sea, Carnew just ran through us.We hate to be critical of any our teams but our lads must take responsibility and stand up and be counted. A lack of discipline, fitness and match sharpness contributed to our defeat. In fairness to our lads they put a bit of a fight in the second half and were unfortunate with some decisions and careless goals given away. There were very little positives to take from the game. One positive however is that we managed to score 3-07 while not playing to our capabilities. A score of 3-07 would win a lot of games but the annoying, frustrating thing was how cheaply we conceded goals at the other end. Kilcoole scorers on the night were Conor O Neill 1-01,Dean Taylor 1-0, Lee Dutton 1-0, Shane Molloy 0-2,Eoin Keddy 0-2 and Ryan Kenny 0-1 and Glen Mitchell 0-1.Lads this may be a bitter pill to swallow now, but we must regroup, put it behind us and give the rest of our championship a real determined effort. Come on lads we are better than this..

The u14 footballers made the long journey to Kiltegan last Wednesday to play Michael Dwyer's in the championship. The first half was even enough. At half time we trailed 7 points to 3. We were confident however for the second half as we had the advantage of the hill. Michael Dwyer's got a vital goal and we trailed again. Gavin Dunne scored a goal for Kilcoole which put us back in the game. The game livened up as Michael Dwyer's missed a penalty and Gavin Dunne had a great shot saved by the keeper and another came off the bar for a point. Michael Dwyer's hit us with a sucker punch when they scored a second and killed the game off as a contest. The final score being Michael Dwyer's 2 10 Kilcoole 1-07. Owen O Brien had a great game and played a captain's part. Our downfall was probably a combination of fitness and the fact that we hadn't played as a unit in so long. Kilcoole scorers on the night were Gavin Dunne 1-01, Lee Dutton 0-4, Dylan Ford 0-1 and CJ Corcoran 0-1.Hard luck lads.
U8/U10/U12 hurling:
Training continues at the national school on Thursday from 6:45pm to 8pm. Our under 8's and 10's took part in a blitz last Saturday at Bray Emmets prior to the Kick Fádá competition, on a day where we were blessed with the weather. Our teams put on a great display, showing all the skills they've been developing over the last number of years. I'm sure all the supporters who travelled would agree. Thanks to Bray Emmets for inviting us and for the after match treats for the kids. It must be said that Bray know how to look after their visitors, thanks to Brian Lambe, the referees on the day and the other organisers! The under 10s had Marwan in goal, and as usual gave an excellent display, we had great defensive displays from Oisin, Sean, Mikel and Cian Morissey, midfield of Brian and Leo won ball after ball, our forwards of Thomas, Glenn, Cian Davis and Ross made sure to waste no chances, getting lots of scores. In particular, some nice scores came from Cian Morissey and Leo while playing midfield and Sean O'Mahony scoring a point to close out the last game, Thomas, Glenn and Cian Davis also took some great scores. Well done to you all! In a few short weeks we will be moving indoors and having the second year of our indoor Pat Frawley cup competition, we hope to see you there!

U16 Football:
Last Monday week, the u16 footballers made the long journey across the gap to play Stratford/Grangecon.This was our final league match before the championship starts. Before throw in a minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect for the late Seamas Molloy RIP.The club symphatises with club player Shane and the Molloy family. The game was both entertaining and high scoring. The game was evenly balanced and we trailed by a single point at half time 2-05 to 2-04.The high scoring continued into the second half and Kilcoole players should be proud in what was a great team performance. We gave it everything but finished on the losing side, being beaten by three points 3 14 to 4-08.Both teams should be applauded for a great high scoring game. Our scorers were Eoin Keddy 3-03, Glen Mitchell 1-0, Conor O Neill 0-2, Lee Dutton 0-2 and Gavin Dunne 0-1.Hard luck lads and keep up the good work for the championship.
U8/U10/U12 hurling:
We would like to thank the teams from Aughrim and St Pat's who made themselves available to us at short notice last Friday to ensure our blitz went ahead. It was a great evening for hurling and the supporters really appreciated the skills on show from the u8 and u10 teams. Well done to all. Training continues in the national school on Thursday from 6:45pm to 8pm.
CLUB NOTES 30/08/2010
Junioe B's Football:
There was disappointment for the Junior B's when they lost to Carnew in the championship last Sunday in Arklow. Kilcoole lead by a single point at half time after a good first half performance with some fine free taking from Stephen Coughlan however the second half performance was poor and the final score was Carnew 2-9 Kilcoole 8 points.
Ladies Football:
The Ladies had a great win in the league last Wednesday away to Barndarrig. The final score was Kilcoole 2-5 Barndarrig 1-2. Training continues on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7pm.

Minor Football:
The minors played Blessington at home last Wednesday. We were missing several key players and knew it was going to be an uphill battle. However we didn't expect to be 8 points down at half time, 9-1, with Danny Kavanagh grabbing our only first half score. Positional changes were made at half time and we got the second half off to the perfect start with a goal for Joe Monaghan. We gave it a real go in the second half with further points from Danny Kavanagh (0-2),Eoin Keddy (0-1) and Darren Byrne (0-1). It was great to see Darren back in action following his serious injury. The score of the game came when Matt Mannix went on a solo run from midfield and blasted home a goal for Kilcoole.Matt has served this club briallantly in defensive positions, so it was great to see Matt get on the scoresheet. Can't slag you Matt now about not scoring. With minutes remaining Darren Gammell pointed to leave only a point between the sides, however Blessington responded with a point to finish the game two point winners on a score line of 14 points to 2-6.Kilcoole players must be commended on a great second half performance. Hard luck lads. Tonight we play Kilmac away with players meeting at the church at 6.30pm
U8/U10/U12 hurling:

JUVENILE CLUB NOTES 12/07/2010
Minor Football:
Kilcoole minor footballers started their championship campaign away to St.Pats last Wednesday. It was a strange type of game with both sides missing scoring chances early on. Darren Gammell opened the scoring with a goal for Kilcoole. In a very low scoring first half, we managed another 3 points before the break coming from Ciaran Byrne, Eoin Keddy and Callum Watson giving us a 1-03 to 0-01 lead at half time. Injuries to Kilcoole players meant switching players to different positions and we seemed to lose our momentum in the second half. Our cause was not helped with a controversial peno awarded against us, which resulted in a goal. Pats got another goal but we responded with a good goal from Danny Kavanagh, Danny got our only point in the second period. With the game level at this stage Pats went on to score 2 further points. Despite a late rally by us, we lost out to these two scores on a score line of Pats 2-06 Kilcoole 2-04. Hard luck lads. Tonight we play Michael Dwyers over in the field.
U14 Football:
The u14 footballers travelled to Newtown last Wednesday for our second round championship tie. We started slowly and always seemed to be chasing the game, despite us having a purple patch in the second half and we actually led by three points. It was an even enough contest, but Newtown pushed on to win by four points with a score line of 2-15 to our 4-05, this was disappointing that we only managed nine scores. Scorers were CJ Corcoran 2-01, Gavin Dunne 2-0, Cormac Byrne 0-2 and Lee Dutton 0-2. Hard luck lads.
U8/U10/U12 hurling:
Training continues at St Anthony's on Thursday at 6:45.
U8s in Croker
Tuesday the 6th July 2010 is a day that will long be remembered by the U8 hurlers in Kilcoole. Because they got to do something which is achieved by only a few in the GAA. They got to play on the hallowed turf of Croke Park in the Leinster Council Go Games Blitz. our opponents for the day were Carrick Shock from Kilkenny, (it has to be said that we got no favours with that draw) Although the game itself didn't go our way the Kilcoole boys battled away right to the end, from goalkeeper Rhys Toole, defenders, Adam Poveda, Cian Hunt, Ben O'Neill, Cian Cahill, and Blake Ryan up to the forwards Elliot Hatton, Eoin Byrne, Luke kelly and Aaron Keddy, every single one of them did the club proud. The whole day was a fantastic experience with the team getting to use the dressing rooms under the Cusack stand, entering the field through the players tunnel, and then after the game the team got to climb the steps to the victory podium and hold aloft a cup just like All Ireland Champions, we live in hope that one day that dream will come true. Many thanks to Seamus Howlin, Leinster Council Chairman, who very kindly presented medals commemorating the day to all the Kilcoole players. Also a big thank you to all the parents who provided transport as well as huge vocal support on the day.

Minor Football:
Tonight (Wednesday 30 June) the minor footballers play a challenge match against Rathnew over in the field at 7.30pm. Next Wednesday (July 7) we play our first championship match away to St. Pats. Players to meet at church at 6.15pm.
U12 Football:
Unfortunately the u12 footballers couldn't repeat the great league win over Newtown last Thursday. This time it was championship and both teams played a great exhibition of football with Newtown coming out victors in the end. Panel and scorers were- Eoin Vines, Mazen Agamy (1-0), Jack Bellamy (0-1), Kieron Byrne, Luke Byrne, Patrick Byrne, Adam Cummins, Caolan Doyle, Dylan Doyle (1-0), Anneliese Dunne, Luke Evans, Killian Hannon, Ryan Heffernan, Max Kelly Mahon, Conor Martin (0-2), Aaron McKenna (0-1), Conor Murphy Toole, Ronan O'Kelly, Tomas McDonald (1-0), Brian Short, Conor Rubalcava.
U8/U10/U12 hurling:
Our u8 and u10 hurling teams travelled down to Glenealy last Friday. What followed certainly brought a smile to the faces of everyone who travelled down in support as our teams put on the performance of the year. It was great to see these lads use all their skill and determination and not giving an inch on the field. For the u10's who had 4 matches in total, they were simply brilliant and it's only fitting to highlight the performances on the field. Marwan and Glen did such a great job as goalkeepers, making several crucial saves each, Ross, Mikel, and Brian did fantastic work in the defence, Leo, Cian, and Sam were superb in midfield, winning ball after ball, and our forward line of Oisin, Sean, Luke and Thomas did untold damage with their scoring. Thanks to all who travelled down in support.Training continues at St Anthony's on Thursday at 6:45. The u8s and u10s will have a blitz in Glenealy on Friday, details to be confirmed later in the week. See the juvenile page for photos.
Our u12 hurlers came out 2 points ahead of their opposition in last Monday week's league game in Enniskerry. It was a very close game with the two teams evenly matched and one as eager as the other to win. Final score was 3-3 to 3-1. Well done to all on a great team performance. That makes 2 wins out of 2. Keep up the good work!

JUVENILE CLUB NOTES 21/06/2010
U14 Football:
U14 Football: The u14 footballers started their championship campaign with a convincing win over Enniskerry last Wednesday week over in the field. From the start, our lads always seemed in control and we lead comfortably at half time. Our defenders Josh Murray (Goals), Warren Merriman, Owen O Brien, Shane Evans, James Toner, Bradley Delaney Byrne and Jake Ryan were solid all night and sub Goalie Stephen Taylor pulled off a great second half save. We had no less than 8 scorers from midfield to attack- Gavin Dunne 1-10,Dylan Ford 3-05, CJ Corcoran 3-03, Lee Dutton 0-5, Steven O Toole 1-01, Luke Whelan 1-0, Shane MacMullen 0-4 and Cormac Byrne scoring a great point from a free. Outfield subs Emmet Buckley, Adam Carstairs, Jack Healy and Jamie Murray all came on and played their part. Apart from our impressive score line, what was particularly pleasing was our build up play-flowing football and our accuracy with point scoring. Well done lads in what was a wonderful team performance.
U8/U10/U12 hurling:
Following the cancellation of a number of matches (for one reason or other) our u12 hurlers finally kick started their league campaign against Aughrim over in the field last Monday week. They put in a fantastic performance, so much so that their opponents failed to score. Given that some of these kids were playing their first ever club hurling match each and every one of them participated with skill and enthusiasm and it was a brilliant display of skill and teamwork. Well done to all concerned and particularly to Gerry, Andy and Ciaran whose relentless coaching and encouragement is definitely paying off. The team were: Conor Martin, Adam Cummins (1-0), Brian Short, Kieron Byrne, Nathan Corkish, Conor Toole, Aaron McKenna, Luke Evans (1-3), Jordan Murray (1-0), Cameron Cosgrave (0-1), Dylan Doyle, Daniel Grehan (1-1), Mazen Agamy (5-0), Luke Byrne (2-0), Jack O'Connor and sub Killian Carlin Hannon (1-0). Training continues for this group on Thursdays in the Boys School Grounds @ 7pm. Training continues at St Anthony's on Thursday at 6:45. JUVENILE CLUB NOTES 07/06/2010
U14 Football:
The u14 footballers took on Aughrim/ Annacurra last Wednesday over in the field. It was a game of two halves, with Aughrim/ Annacurra deserving their 6 point lead at half time (1-06 to a goal). Our lads never seemed to get going in a fogettable 30 minutes from our point of view. Our lads were a lot more focussed in the second half and very soon we were level with two Shane MacMullen goals. It was now game on and Kilcoole raised their game. Conor Keown and Owen O Brien marshalled the defence briallantly and Jake Ryan making intelligent runs from half back, one such run resulted in a well taken point. Lee Dutton chipped in from midfield with a well taken goal. Disappointingly we only managed 4 points in the game, two of these coming from subs Jamie Murray (1-01) and Stephen O Toole (0-1). At a stage when both teams were evenly balanced, our 'keeper Josh Murray pulled off a magnificent save from a peno. Kilcoole's star man was Shane MacMullen, with endless running and scoring 3 goals and 1 point into the bargain. It is hard to believe, this is Shane's first year playing Gaelic football. A great second performance was rewarded with a 3 point win -5-04 to 2-10. Well done lads.

U16 Football:
The u16 footballers had a disappointing defeat at home to An Tochar last Monday week. We competed okay in the first half, but in the second half our fitness levels were exposed and An Tochar got a few goals. We only managed to score 1-03, Shane Molloy grabbing 1-02 and a solitary point from Dean Taylor. Jack Moran Laury and Owen O Brien were Kilcoole best performers on a disappointing night. Training continues with Peter O Brien on Thursdays for players interested. There is now a break for exams. The club wish all our players doing Junior/Leaving Cert the very best of luck in their exams.

U16 Football:
The u16 footballers travelled to Laragh last Monday week. We were missing some players, so we experimented with players in different positions. A spirited Laragh side, pushed us all the way, but we held on to win by 5 points (3-11 to 3-06). Kilcoole scorers were Glen Mitchell 1-02, Eoin Keddy 0-4, Michael "Johnno" Moorehouse 1-01, Owen O Brien 1-0, Gavin Dunne 0-2, CJ Corcoran 0-1 and Karim Handona 0-1. Well done lads.
U14 Football:
The u14 footballers played Michael Dwyers over in the field last Wednesday. In a high scoring game we emerged winners on a 4-11 to 3-06 scoreline. It was encouraging that eight players scored in what was a wonderful tally. Our scorers were Cormac Byrne 2-01 (raising the green flag on both occasions with two well taken penos). Lee Dutton chipped in with 3 points from midfield, CJ Corcoran 1-01, Gavin Dunne 0-3, Shane MacMullen 1-0 and sub Stephen Taylor 0-1. The score of the game came from sub Jake Ryan, who carried the ball from half back to score a wonderful point. There were also excellent performances from Owen O Brien at full back and Bradley Delaney Byrne at centre half back. Tonight we play Bray Emmets away. Well done lads.

The 9th of May 2010 will go down as a great day for our club, when we celebrated our proud history in the GAA and also in the local community. Shane McGee captained the team and special mention to our Minor players involved: Darren Byrne, Shane Keogh, Darren Gammell, Matt Mannix, Danny Kavanagh, Kurt Stark and goal scorers Shane Doyle and Ciaran Byrne and subs Dara Killen and Aaron Lennon. Philip O Connor could not play due to county commitments. Well done lads.
U16 Football:
The u16 footballers played St.Pat's last Monday week, over in the field. On a bitterly cold night, we found ourselves a few points down. Suddenly we hit a purple patch, scoring 3 goals from Cillian Thompson, Glen Mitchell and Shane Molloy. Pat's fought back and took a slender lead in at half time. Our momentum dropped in the second half and Pat's pushed on to win by 5 points (3-10 -4-02). Our second half scorers were Dean Taylor (1-0), Glen Mitchell (0-1) and Shane Molloy (0-1). Dermot "Farmer" O Brien shone at full back for Kilcoole. Hard luck lads.
U12 Football:
Last Monday our footballers travelled down to Avondale but unfortunately came away with nothing. While we have come up against some very strong teams this year it has to be said we are getting stronger. All the way to the final whistle this young team kept on playing good football and it will stand to them for future games and seasons to come. Our next two games are at home to Eire Og Greystones and then away to Newtown the following week. We will then have a break of a week or two before the championship starts, training continues every Wednesday evening over at the pitch and hopefully we might be able to get one or two friendly matches before the championship. The development team (the Kilcoole kittens) will be starting back up this Saturday (22nd) at 12:30pm over at the pitch. This section is open to players who were born in the years 2004,2005 and 2006.We will be starting off with a registration and introduction day. Membership is ?25 for the year. JUVENILE CLUB NOTES 10/05/2010
Club day :
The juvenile section of the club would like to thank all who participated in our very successful club day on Sunday 9th where we marked 125 years as a club. Our U6s/8s/10s and 12s put on a great display, which went down very well. Well done to all the club members and families who set everything up and ran the show, as a lot of hard work was involved.
U14 Football:
The u 14 footballers played out an entertaining match against Tinahely last Wednesday over in the field. The game was evenly enough balanced throughout. We were a bit slow to start, but soon got going. In the second half, it looked like we might get some breathing space when we were awarded a penalty. Unfortunately the ball came back off the post. Tinahely made it a very nerve wrecking final few minutes when they scored a goal. To our lad's credit they kept going and were rewarded with a two point win (3-06 to 2-08) and that makes it three wins out of four. Kilcoole scorers were Gavin Dunne (1-02), CJ Corcoran (1-02), Jamie Murray (1-0), Jack Healy (0-2) and Warren Merriman (0-1) with Owen O Brien once again outstanding at full back. Well done lads.

Big celebrations this Sunday to mark Kilcoole gaa's 125th yr. All starts with a parade at 12 from the church to club grounds. There will be numerous activities in the field including kids matches, face painting, puc fada, kick fada, penalty shoot out, tug o war, stalls, games, a raffle and much much more. Its an event for all of our community and we look forward to seeing you & your families on the day.
U16 Football:
The u16 footballers made the long journey to Coolkenno last Monday week. We were slow to settle as Coolkenno built up a big lead. At half time we trailed by 3-09 to 2 points. In the second half we put up a very spirited performance as we exerted a lot more pressure on the game. We restricted Coolkenna to just 2 points in the second half; much of this was down to Jack Moran Lowry's tireless effort and brilliant second half performance. However the lead obtained in the first half was too much to overcome and we lost 3-11 to 1-04. Our scorers were Shane Molloy (0-3), Conor O Neill (1-0) and Gavin Dunne (0-1).
U14 Football:
The u-14 footballers had a great win over St.Patrick's over in the field last Wednesday. Right from the start our lads took control of the game. The defence of Josh Murray(Goals), Bradley Delaney Byrne, Owen O Brien, Shane Evans, James Toner, Warren Merriman, Jake Ryan were excellent . Midfielders Lee Dutton and Cormac Byrne controlled the game as well as scoring apoint each also. All six fowards, Luke Wheelan (0-1), Adam Carstairs (0-1), Jamie Murray (0-2), Shane MacMullen (1-01), Gavin Dunne(2-01) and a whopping (4-02) from full foward CJ Corcoran scored on the night. All five subs: Jordan Greene, Conor Keown, Emmett Buckley and scorers Jack Healy (2-0) and Stephen O Toole (0-2) were given a run out. Well done lads. Tonight we entertain Tinahealy at home, so why not come over to the field and cheer on Roy's boys.
U12 Football:
On Monday the 26th, our young under 12 footballers took on a very strong Aughrim/Annacurra over at the pitch in what turned out to be a very entertaining and close game. With a score line of 5-9 to 6-0 both teams were guilty of missed scoring chances. but in the end of the day players like Mazen Agamy,Caolan Doyle,Ryan Heffernan and Max Kelly Mahon made the difference. But that is not to take away from the team as a whole, every time this young team gets together they are getting stronger and stronger .Our next match is against Enniskerry on Tuesday the 4th of May and the following week (10th May) we shall be travelling down to Avondale. We then shall be at home to our neighbours from Eire Og Greystones on 17th May ,followed by trip up to Newtown on Monday the 24th May.All support from friends and family members would be very welcome.
